Guide to blogging, commenting & managing your personal brand

Since we will start setting up blogs in class next week, it's time to address blogging etiquette, reputation management and personal branding. That's why I've put together a slideshow on the topic. Take a look:

This is a fantastic presentation. Bravo!

I think you hit a lot of great points and I especially like your "skeleton" and "magnet" slides.

Dan - thanks for your kind words. I'll have to refer my students to your blog considering that it focuses on personal branding. Definitely a topic they should learn about!

Slide 11, point #2 was supposed to read "Extend" rather than "Extent", right? Importance off spelling and grammar... ;-)

Fixed it - thanks for pointing that out. Guess I should have added a "don't rely on your spell checker" bullet.

This still came up in my reader. Wow the memories of my humble beginnings. The new class better listen up. I was the prime example of what not to do or say in a blog last year. Pay attention and take it seriously, as you could be the next paid blogger or make money from ads on your blog. Learn the features and Blogger applications. You will be eternally grateful to Dr Weisgerber later...believe me.

I needed to update Flash to see this, but I'm glad I did. I will be linking to your advice in class; thanks for sharing.

Fantastic slide deck, Corinne. I'm embedding it in my blog and sharing it in two classes next week!

Christine & Barbara - glad you found the slides useful.

Barbara - will your class be blogging this semester? Will you be sharing the links to their blogs? I am asking my students to comment on other student (and professional) blogs and would love to point them to your students' blogs if they will indeed be blogging.

Corinne,

Yes, my Corporate PR students will be blogging. When they have theirs set up, I'll create a Delicious page with links to all of them. Since I want them to comments on others' blogs too, this could work wonderfully!
